Basic rundown of the swap - Original setup after swap
It wasn't that hard. Although there were many decisions that were made along the way that made it a bit of a 'process'. Basically, the k-member was swapped out with a LS1 unit (for the engine mounts). The new long-block was mounted along with a TH-350 tranny/converter. I had to modify the stock transmission cross-member to fit the new transmission and due to the lack of a torque arm mount on the tail shaft housing (like all f-body transmissions), I also had to get an aftermarket torque arm with the front mount relocated to the body.

The new setup also required a new driveshaft since the stock unit was shorter, therefore a good quality 3" steel driveshaft was built according to my specs. The wiring for the engine was taken off a '98 T/A and modified to plug into the stock wiring harness of the car.

This, although it took some effort/time/money and a LOT of research/reading was worth it since I can always swap back to a LT1 powertrain and you'd never even notice. The stock shifter had to be ditched in place of a new Cheetah shifter due to the new transmission. I didn't like the ratchet action shifters and liked the look and feel of the Cheetah and how it works, although it was a bit more $'s. The headers were Jethot coated LS1 units and the exhaust is a true dual setup with Flowmaster mufflers, H-pipe and dumps a bit after the driver seat.
