The
modification list says it all. There isn't a whole lot Keith Fidura's
2000 Chevy Camaro SS doesn't have, yet we're sure the project is far
from finished. At 10 psi out of the rear mount STS Turbo,
this one of a kind street car is pumping out 630 RWHP @ 5600 rpm with
a conservative street tune... without the nitrous.
When
standing next to the car, one wouldn't notice anything but a clean set
of clean Torque Thrust II wheels and some window tint. Walk
around the front, however, and the front mount intercooler replacing
the grill will give you a hint of what's under the hood... or
should we say, what's mounted in the rear? - the T-76 Garret
Turbo.

This STS isn't feeding
just any stock LS1 base setup. Raising the hood shows an engine
bay full of fun - 408 cubic inches of it. The ARD 408ci Iron Block
with forged eagle crank and rods is the main powerplant of Fidura's
ride. A massive bolt on list includes everything in the
mechanics catalog from Jet Hott Headers to the Nick Williams 90mm
Throttle Body.
The
car hasn't been out to a track to capture an offical 1\4 mile ET, but
Fidura comments that visiting any track is always an uncertain
affair. This fast SS has no roll-cage, so a fast wave from the
track officials cut any track days short.
Keith purchased the SS
in 2004, after owning previous other Fbody cars including an LT4
Firehawk, and LB9 Firebird, and an LS1 that was wrecked.
Shortly after the bolt on list of modifications put the car down to a
12.40 ET time, Fidura was informed he was being deployed overseas to
Iraq. "I
worked with F-Body Central from overseas and my girlfriend told them
what I wanted done. There was literally a time where I was on a roof
top in Husaybah , Iraq using a satellite phone to tell Jason (from
F-Body Central) what I wanted....."
Keith hasn't sprayed the
nitrous yet in the SS. This year he claims he wants to
settle back and enjoy the hard work placed into the car since his
return to the States. Restricted by an 11.5 rule by the
drag strips, he plans to drive the meanest street car on the east
coast this year, and go for a few 9 second passes next racing season
once the car is track ready and tuned for those Nitro Dave 250 Shot
Jets.

Keith sat down with us
and ran a calculator over the giant modification list to the
right. With over $18,000 in parts, and the wrench time put in by
himself and F-body Central, he's equipped himself with one of the
fastest cars you'll find on the streets in Baltimore and Philly -
loaded with a full interior and a sound system that possibly may be
drowned out by the chorus of the 408 and a spooling whistle of the
Garret.
